It's only been a year and a half...

It's been a long time (ok, ok a REALLY long time) and I thought now is a good time to start the blog back up! We have had an interesting/exciting last few weeks and I wanted to keep all our family/friends up to date. So, let's recap:

Feb 2012- The boys and I move to NC as our time in Germany comes to an end
Mar 2012- Eric joins us and starts his "terminal leave" (last bit of time in military)
Apr 2012- Eric's officially out of the US Air Force after 9 years; Begins training for new job at L3 Communications
May 2012- We find out we will move to Helendale, CA and pack up and head cross country.

That brings us to this past week. Late Thursday night we arrived in CA after 4 days of driving. Friday we got checked into our extended stay hotel (which is where we are now) and went to look at a few houses that afternoon. My dad was GREAT and at the last minute decided to come on the road trip out and was very helpful all along the way. Traveling with a dog, cat and 2 toddlers is NOT easy :). Before we left for CA we researched houses and had a few we wanted to look at. So that first Friday we went and saw them in order of which ones we liked most. After our first house, we were sold! The house itself is great and was an awesome deal! We knew we wanted it but decided to look at a few more just to make sure. By that evening we decided to go ahead and make an offer on it but there was also one other offer so we didn't know how likely it would be that we would get it. Well, we found out yesterday that WE GOT THE HOUSE! Here is a little more about it HERE. Also, the neighborhood is amazing. It has 2 lakes with beaches, pools, parks, etc. They have movies on the beaches, fitness classes, swim lessons, etc... all included in the homeowners dues.

The only downfall is it's pretty much in the middle of no where. Eric's work is pretty far out in the middle of the desert. So getting a house near his job is pretty much impossible so this is about as close as we can get (30 min drive). While the neighborhood has a small market, gas station, post office and a few other basic amenities, the closest "real" city is Victorville and it's 30 min- it has every store you can think of and is a good size. Luckily the neighborhood is so very family oriented that the majority of the things I'd like to do with the boys (parks, pool, etc) are all within a walk or short drive.  It will be an adjustment getting used to living in the middle of the desert but I'm excited to start meeting people and getting to know the area more. It's always an adjustment moving somewhere new so I think we will be fine soon :)

I took my dad back to the airport on the 17th... we are all going to really miss him! He was such a big help to us. Eric seems to love his job so far! He just started Monday but will work four 12 hour shifts and be off for 3 days. While he will be working very long hours it is nice to know we can do day trips/weekend trips on his 3 day weekends!

Tomorrow we move into a condo (its very old but has more space than our current place) and it's right in our new neighborhood down the road from our new house! We just signed a 2 month lease so we have somewhere to "settle in" until we can close on our house. I think we should be able to move in around July 7th but we will find out more when we talk to our realtor Monday.

OK, I'll *try* and update this page pretty often!Love you guys lots!
